Busy Parent Survival Guide: Carry Smarter, Boost Energy & Glow Giveaway

Busy Parent Survival Guide: Carry Smarter, Boost Energy & Glow Giveaway

Parenting is heavy — and not just in the emotional sense. Between sleepless nights, school runs, kids who are “too big to carry but still want cuddles,” and trying to hold together a business (or a household), parents are stretched to the limit.

That’s why Coconut Greens teamed up with Hackerlily to launch the Carry & Glow Giveaway — a survival kit designed to give busy parents a little extra strength, energy, and glow. To celebrate, we sat down with Laura Campbell, Gold Coast mum of two and founder of Hackerlily, for a candid chat about parenting, mum hacks, and the small rituals that keep her thriving.

Q&A with Hackerlily’s Laura Campbell

Q1. Laura, what does a typical day look like for you right now?

No two days look the same, but most start around 6am with kids, breakfast, and the school run. On good mornings, I squeeze in a workout while my son is at the gym crèche — it helps me reset before diving into work.

Once our childminder arrives, I’m all in on Hackerlily: customer service, content, meetings with my manufacturer, and planning new products up to 18 months ahead. Afternoons are split between school pick-ups and quick bursts of work at a café. Evenings are family time, before I log back on to emails and creative projects.

It’s not polished, but it’s progress — and that’s what matters.

Q2. You designed the HipSurfer after struggling with traditional carriers. Why was this so important to you?

When my son was a baby and my daughter was just two, I was constantly in pain from arthritis and carpal tunnel but still needed to carry both. Traditional carriers didn’t work — they were fiddly, hot, and impractical for quick ups and downs.

I needed something simple that took the pressure off my body. The HipSurfer became that solution, and it’s been life-changing. If it could ease my load, I knew it could help thousands of other parents too.

Q3. Parenting and business can be exhausting. How do you keep your energy up, and what role do health and wellness play in your daily life?

I don’t really believe in “perfect balance” — I see life in seasons. Some weeks I’m full of energy, other weeks I need more grace and rest.

What helps me thrive are simple, consistent anchors. Exercise is a big one — I aim for 3–5 workouts a week because I don’t function without movement. I start every day with Coconut Greens and Collagen — it’s quick, tastes good, and makes me feel like I’ve fuelled my body before the day even begins.

Sleep is hit and miss, but I make sure it’s quality (yes, I fall asleep to crime podcasts!). For me, wellness isn’t about doing everything perfectly — it’s about little rituals like moving my body, hydrating, and resting when I need to.

Q4. Do you have a favourite way you enjoy Coconut Greens?

Yes! I love it half coconut water, half filtered water — refreshing, hydrating, and so easy. I’ve also started experimenting with recipes like smoothies and milkshakes for the kids.

Q5. What’s one mum hack you swear by?

My best hack isn’t about gadgets — it’s about mindset. Stop expecting every day to run the same. Some days are high-energy, some days are survival mode — and that’s okay.

On the practical side, I use a six-section party tray every week to prep snacks and fruit for the kids’ lunchboxes. It saves time and makes mornings so much smoother.

Q6. How does the HipSurfer make parenting feel lighter?

The HipSurfer doesn’t just save your back — it changes how you connect with your child. It takes away the fiddling and pain so you can focus on cuddles, soothing meltdowns, or navigating airports with a toddler who wants up and down constantly.

It transforms “I physically can’t carry you anymore” into “I’ve got you.” That’s powerful.

Q7. What have you learned about yourself through running a business while raising kids?

I’ve learned to redefine success. It’s not job titles or salaries anymore — it’s freedom, presence with my kids, and building something meaningful.

Travel is still part of who I am, so I’ve built Hackerlily to support that. I’ve attended trade shows overseas and am preparing to export to the UK, which is exciting.

Q8. If you could give other parents one piece of encouragement, what would it be?

Stop chasing perfect. No one wins an award for doing it all. Do messy, do simple, do what works for you.

Kids don’t need the Pinterest version of you — they just need you. When you drop expectations and embrace both the easy days and the hard ones, parenting becomes lighter, more fun, and much more sustainable.
